Mot Nijmegen och Arnhem

We spend a night at Bed and Breakfast Maas en Waal.

Ännu en härlig morgon!
Så mysigt att börja dagen ute på landet.
Vänlig värd som delade med sig av tips. Bra frukost!

It’s a special feeling to start the day without cars in a small village
We followed the Dijk towards Nijmegen. Quite easy – just follow the water on the left hand.
On the river Waar there are plenty of cargo ship – interesting to study.

We found this fish wagon at the market in Nijmegen, but they had not opened yet.
We was lucky to find this pancakes-house. They told us that it was the oldest house in Nijmegen.
The only thing I read about Nijmegen was that the Romes build it and it was the oldest town in Netherlands.
Now we found Valkhof. So amazing place that I want to study more.

?#viagladiola #t’hoogstraat ?
? #valkhof ?
?? .

It’s easy to understand why the Romes chose this place.

There are two bridges in Nijmegen. The amazing Walkhof is very near one of the bridges. You see the read circle at this map.
It’s a bit tricky to find the bike route to the bridge.
This is one of the places there we really see the effect of all this cars. It was no good air to breath on the bridges you have to share with the cars.
The reason for visiting Nijmegen and Arnhem was Krister Isakssons article about the bicycle high-way between this towns. It was really amazing. So easy to ride this way! (Not the most beautiful – but very fast.)
Arnhem is a quit big city – but the build it for cyclist! It’s the big difference between Nijmegen and Arnhem.

Of course I got my Kibbeling even this day. Here they have a special Haringbar – but I still prefer Kibbeling even if they offer me a just fresh haring.

This night we stay in a home we found at AirBnB, Lovely hosts who use to bike around the world. He was history teacher and awaked my curiosity about Arnhem in second world war. Have to read more about it.
